NEWARK - Rail commuters in New York and New Jersey experienced delays during Friday’s evening commute due to tunnel repairs.
New Jersey Transit says that emergency track repairs in the north tube of the Hudson River rail tunnel were the cause of the delays.
The repairs started Friday afternoon and caused at least an hour delays on the Northeast Corridor rail line. By Friday evening, delays were at about 30 minutes.
NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were honored by PATH, NJ Transit buses and private bus carriers while repairs were made.
This was the second day of delays during the evening commute home.
On Thursday, riders on NJ Transit and PATH trains were delayed by problems at two separate bridges over New Jersey's Hackensack River.
