NEWARK - The Transportation Security Administration is aiming to help alleviate long lines at airport security this summer by adding more agents.

TSA says that 750 agents will be added to the roster. News 12 New Jersey is told that as many as 100 new agents could be coming to Newark Liberty International Airport.

For the past few weeks, passengers have complained on social media about longer-than-average wait times to get through security. Some airlines have even had to delay flights due to the long wait.

Sen. Cory Booker says that adding more TSA agents is a good step, but he says that he remains skeptical if it will be enough.

"We want to make sure that we always put safety first, but there is a much more efficient way of doing this. So I'm not going to relent,” the senator says. “I'm going to continue to watch this like a hawk, and insist that we begin to give people a much better experience. You should not have to arrive two or three hours before a flight."

LaGuardia and Kennedy airports will also get additional TSA officers.
