KENILWORTH - A dump truck crashed into the side of the Kenilworth Public Works building Wednesday, causing parts of the building to collapse.

The Kenilworth Fire Department battalion chief tells News 12 New Jersey that crews were unloading the truck when it started to roll and struck the building. The crash tore down two overhead garage doors and knocked down parts of the building.

The regional Metro Strike Team was called in to help with the collapse. The team was formed after the Sept. 11 attacks and is a quick response unit from 11 different towns that is trained in building collapse and trench rescue efforts.

The team was able to shore up the building to make sure it didn’t collapse further, while they worked to make sure no one was trapped or injured by the collapse.

There were no injuries reported during the incident. Officials are working to determine why the truck rolled away.
