Trout season in NJ begins Saturday

EDISON - Trout season in New Jersey opens on Saturday.

The state has stocked rivers and streams with 182,640 trout during the past few weeks.

The Fish and Wildlife Division says the average size is 10.5 inches and one half pound in weight.

Anglers 16 years of age and older must purchase a permit to fish for trout.

The money from the licenses finance the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center that helps supply the stock for each season.
