EDISON - The murder trial of a slain Point Pleasant woman was postponed today and now isn't expected to begin until the summer.

Defense attorneys for Jose Luis Marquez, the man accused of murdering Kyleigh Sousa, pushed for the delay.

Sousa was killed outside an Arizona IHOP restaurant when a man in a moving car tried to grab her purse. Police say she was tangled in the straps, dragged and injured. She died a short time later.

Her family spoke with New 12 New Jersey after learning about the delay.

"What happened to us in our family with Kyleigh, I relate it to an F5 tornado," said Karen Montenegro, Kyleigh's mother. "Everything in your life is completely devastated."

"The faster the trial comes, the easier it will be to put it behind us," said Mike Sousa, Kyleigh's brother.
