NEWARK - A trial date has been set for the woman charged with animal cruelty in the "Patrick the Dog" case.

Kisha Curtis, 29, is accused of tying her pit bull Patrick to a railing in her Newark apartment before leaving the state in 2011. The emaciated dog was later found at the bottom of a trash chute.

Curtis' trial begins on July 9. She has denied all the charges and rejected a plea offer.
