WALLKILL - Shoppers and employees at a Wallkill Walmart are being hailed as heroes after helping a pregnant woman deliver her baby last night.

A store manager says he saw a pregnant woman, now identified as 28-year-old Nathalie Saona, lying on a bench near the pharmacy at around 8 p.m. People nearby started bringing pillows, towels and blankets and helped deliver a baby girl by the time the paramedics arrived.

Emergency officials say Saona and her newborn, Kourtney, were taken to Orange Regional Medical Center, where they are doing well.

Saona says the baby wasn't due until March 17.
