EDISON - Some local businesses stocked up on snow essentials ahead of another round of winter weather.

Owners of Tri-State Pavement Products in Edison say that at one point, they had 17,000 bags of salt, but that number has since dwindled down to somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000. The product was becoming scarce locally, so they were forced to order more from Minnesota and South Dakota.

The store says contractors and townships have been buying salt by the truck-load and have been selling smaller bags to homeowners.

Tri-State employees say they have had a tiring few weeks, with all the snow and ice, and are looking forward to selling out.

Another popular item at the store is Cold Patch asphalt, which is used to fix potholes.
