TRENTON - Trenton police say they have arrested the man who allegedly impersonated an officer and sexually assaulted a woman.
Authorities say 54-year-old Gustavo Garcia is being held on $500,000 bail after he allegedly told a woman he was a police officer before sexually assaulting her in the bathroom of a store on the 800-block of South Broad Street Saturday.
Authorities arrested the man on the Delaware and Raritan Canal Path near Parkside Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m. Sunday, police said in a press release.

Garcia was charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, terrorist threats, impersonating a police officer, burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday when the man entered the store and told the female clerk that he was a police officer. Police said he had a small black radio and a handgun on him at the time.
When the man believed to be Garcia left the store, he walked down South Broad Street and onto Roebling Avenue where he flagged down an early-90s model tan Toyota Corolla, police said.
Garcia was arrested after being recognized in surveillance photos distributed by police.
