TRENTON - Police Director Ralph Rivera, Councilwoman Phillis Holly Ward and other members of the Trenton community are encouraging residents to get involved in making the city cleaner and safer.
The group went door to door in the Sanhican Drive neighborhood this week, handing out fliers and talking to community members.
Holly Ward says she helped organize the event because the city needs to address the issue with residents one-on-one.

"We need something done," she says. "We don't want no march, we don't want no meeting, we're gonna have to hit the pavement."
The flier asks residents to become responsible neighbors, and to take pride in their city.
The victim of a weekend homicide on Sanhican Drive was the 22nd of the year and the 133rd person shot in Trenton, according to police.
