TRENTON - Trenton's mayor is visiting Washington, D.C. today for a meeting at the White House.

Mayor Tony Mack received the invite to meet with Justice Department officials, after sending a letter last month to President Obama.

The letter was reportedly a personal plea for help due to the recent layoffs of city police officers.

Mack recently laid off about a third of the police force due to budget constraints. The city rehired 18 officers through a police grant.
