TRENTON - According to the Trenton mayor's office, Mayor Tony Mack and the Department of Community Affairs have tentatively agreed to accept a $22 million transitional aid package.

Both parties have agreed that there will not be a three-member panel overseeing the administration's hiring decisions. Instead, the Department of Community Affairs will assist in the hiring process regarding department director positions.

According to the mayor's office, more details will be released as soon as an official signing of the memorandum of understanding takes place.

The money from the state must first be approved by the Legislature. As part of the deal, the Department of Community Affairs will help pick candidates for cabinet positions in Trenton's City Hall.
