Transcontinental relay One Run for Boston arrives in NJ to raise money for bombing victims

EDISON - A national relay made its way through New Jersey Friday to raise money for the victims of last year’s Boston Marathon bombings.

More than 22,000 runners are participating in One Run for Boston, a 3,300-mile transcontinental relay. The relay began in Los Angeles about four weeks ago and will end in Boston on Sunday.

News 12 spoke with one participant who ran a 9-mile stretch with the baton through Morris and Union counties.

She says the running community as a whole was so profoundly impacted by the bombings that the desire to help has been widespread.

The group has already raised $400,000.

One Run for Boston was in New Jersey for a total of 12 hours before runners handed off to a group that crossed into New York.
