HACKENSACK - Train service is back to normal in northern New Jersey after a fire on a drawbridge was extinguished.

New Jersey Transit says  the fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. on the Upper Hackensack drawbridge about a mile west of the Secaucus transfer station and two miles east of the Kingsland station.

The fire was put out at about 1:15 p.m.

Trains on NJ Transit's Main Line were forced to stop while the fire on the single-track bridge was put out.

An NJ Transit spokeswoman says there were no residual delays as of 2 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
