Toys R Us to hire 45,000 workers for holidays

WAYNE - Toys R Us says it will hire about 45,000 employees to help with the busy holiday season, doubling its U.S. work force.

The privately held toy company said today in a news release, it is hiring more workers than in the past three holiday seasons because of an additional 600 Toys R Us Express pop-up stores.

In the past the company, based in Wayne, has hired about 35,000 seasonal workers to help customers select gifts in their stores.

Toys R Us says the workers will staff its traditional stores, some distribution centers and pop-up stores, which are smaller stores in malls and other shopping centers.

The company says it will also provide existing employees with the opportunity to take on additional hours throughout the holiday season.
