Man killed when vehicle hits tree in Jackson

JACKSON - A Toms River man was killed when his SUV crossed over the center median and hit a tree in Jackson early Wednesday morning.

Richard Ulis was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Cassville Road just before 5:15 a.m., according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ulis was driving a 2009 Ford Flex at the time of the crash. Investigators were not sure why he lost control of the SUV. He struck a tree that was on the property of 182 Cassville Road.

Ulis was the only one inside the car at the time of the crash.

Police are investigating.
