TOMS RIVER - A 5-year-old Yorkie-Boston Terrier mix has been voted Toms River's first “pet mayor.”
Biscotti beat out other dogs from the township in an online competition.
Her owner says her unique look with gel and hair spray got her noticed. "Everyone remembers her because of her mohawk and what a great dog she is," says Tori Lattig. "So I think that gave her an edge."

Biscotti will join her human counterpart, Mayor Tom Kelaher, in ribbon-cuttings and other ceremonies around town to help raise awareness about the Caregiver's Canine program in Ocean County.
The group matches therapy dogs like Biscotti with seniors to provide them with comfort and companionship.
