TOMS RIVER - Toms River drivers are questioning the safety of a busy intersection following a deadly accident involving a school bus.

Local drivers tell News 12 New Jersey the deadly crash was tragic, but no surprise.

The crash claimed the life of the driver of a pickup truck that hit the school bus, 60-year-old Thomas Grouss, of Toms River. The crash also sent 11 students to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but police say it appears it happened as Grouss attempted to make a left turn in front of the bus.

A fire official who lives near the intersection says the number of crashes here has actually decreased since four-way traffic lights were put in several years ago.

A camera mounted in the school bus may help investigators determine exactly what happened in yesterday's crash.
