EDISON - Drivers should be cautious during this morning's commute as colder temperatures could cause any lingering wet and untreated surfaces to freeze.

Pockets of black ice could be encountered, especially on sidewalks, parking lots, and secondary roads, as well as on- and off-ramps.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Michele Powers says mostly sunny skies are expected earlier in the day, with more clouds later on. Temperatures are expected to reach around 35 degrees, and drop to the teens overnight.

Overnight Friday a storm system is also projected, bringing the possibility of snow. Sussex County could see up to 6 inches of snow, with some parts of Northern New Jersey also seeing about 2 inches of slush.
