EDISON - Today marks the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Irene's arrival to New Jersey. At that time, it was considered the worst tropical system to ever affect New Jersey.

Irene, the first hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season, arrived with damaging winds and heavy rain on August 28. The historic storm made landfall in Little Egg Inlet early on a Sunday morning.

Along the shore, most residents agree that Irene was a precursor to an even more damaging storm. Superstorm Sandy made landfall just 14 months later.
