SPRING LAKE - The U.S. Postal Service is expected to take in 800,000 pieces of mail today for its busiest shipping day of the year.
Today is the deadline to send cards and packages by first-class mail and have guaranteed arrival for Christmas.
The Spring Lake post office was packed today, with people scrambling to make the deadline. The post office said it expected 40 percent more volume than a typical work day today. The deadline for guaranteed Christmas arrival by priority mail is tomorrow and Wednesday is the deadline for express mail.
