Tire strikes bus on Route 17 in Ramsey, man in critical condition

RAMSEY - One person was seriously injured when a tire smashed through the windshield of a bus in Bergen County.

The accident happened Monday morning on the southbound lanes of Route 17 in Ramsey as the bus, operated by Pine Hill Trailways, headed for New York City.

An investigation revealed that a Lexus driving in the northbound lanes lost its front tire. That tire bounced off the center divider and stuck the bus.

The man sitting directly behind the bus driver is in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Hospital.

No charges are being filed in the incident.
