ROCKAWAY - Quality First Basement Systems says it has set six times as many appointments for estimates than it normally does within the past week, which brought in 1,200 new appointments.

Bob Cherry, of Quality First Basement Systems, says that installing a perimeter drain system around the entire edge of the basement helps alleviate flooding in some cases.

The drain works by taking water that seeps through the walls into the basement and draining it to one spot where it will get pumped out of the house.

Cherry also suggests cleaning your gutters and making sure that the leader pipe takes water away from the home.
