EDISON - Gov. Chris Christie's latest appearance on the cover of Time Magazine has already sparked controversy, and it isn't even on newsstands yet.

The cover depicts Christie in profile with his mouth wide open and the headline "The Elephant in the Room." The article discusses Christie's future in the Republican Party.

The issue is out the same week the governor easily won re-election, boosting speculation that he will run for president. But some believe the headline is ridiculing Christie's weight.

"I think it's a cheap shot at his weight," says Robert Casale, of Edison. "He's a good man, you know. He's trying his best to save New Jersey, bring it back."

Not everyone thinks the cover is an insult. "He is the elephant in the room," says William Ainslie, of Westfield. "If you consider the room the Republican Party, which is full of tea party people who are much more conservative than he is."

This is Christie's second Time Magazine cover this year. In January, a mugshot like photo with the headline "The Boss" angered Italian Americans.
