WALDWICK - A threatening message found in a bathroom is responsible for a large police presence at Waldwick High School Thursday.
Investigators say that the message was found at around 10 a.m., prompting school administrators to call police. Waldwick police, officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and several other local police departments searched the school and did not find any credible threat.
The school was not evacuated. Classes continued as usual, but students were not allowed to leave campus. Police remained at the school for the rest of the day as a precaution.

Waldwick police say that while they understand parents’ initial reaction to a threat is to come to the school to get their children, they urge parents to allow police and school administrators to investigate without extra distractions.
A spokesperson for Waldwick police says in a statement, “While we hope that we never have any of these types of situations, if an event occurs at one of the schools, we will attempt to get accurate information to parents as quickly as possible.”
Classes at Waldwick High School are expected to resume as normal Friday.
