EDISON - A powerful storm moving across the Garden State left thousands without power today.

Heavy rain and strong winds overnight downed trees and power lines across the state.

Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) is reporting 5,000 customers without power in Bergen County. It says emergency crews are out working to restore power to customers affected by the storm.

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is working to restore power to 2,500 customers, mainly in Monmouth, Ocean and Morris counties.

Orange & Rockland Power says 266 customers are without power as a result of the storm.
