Thousands still without power in NJ

TRENTON - It could be Thursday before power is restored to most of the New Jerseyans who lost electricity during the fall snowstorm.

More than 365,000 homes and businesses, mainly in Morris and Bergen counties, remain without electricity today.

Jersey Central Power & Light says 235,000 customers are without power. The utility says nearly all of its customers will have power back by Thursday, with the remaining customers having it back by Friday.

PSE&G is working to restore service to about 150,000 customers. Orange and Rockland Utilities says 17,224 customers in New Jersey are without power and that it is aiming to have 90 percent of customers restored nationwide by Wednesday.

Atlantic City Electric and Rockland Electric have a little more than 2,000 customers each without power.

Utilities are warning parents to be cautious of downed wires when taking children out trick-or-treating.
