Police say Terrell Howard was shot in the hip and the chest at 9:30 p.m. before collapsing on the sidewalk on Washington Avenue. They say 17 shots were fired in total.

ASBURY PARK - A 20-year-old was shot and killed in a hail of gunfire Friday night in Asbury Park.

Police say Terrell Howard was shot in the hip and the chest at 9:30 p.m. before collapsing on the sidewalk on Washington Avenue. They say 17 shots were fired in total.

Howard had been released from jail on June 3. He served one year and four months for weapons possession. His parole was to end on Monday.

Authorities say surveillance cameras were pointed at the crime scene, which may help identify the shooters.

No arrests have been made.
