POINT PLEASANT BEACH - A temporary fix has been completed for a near 12-foot section of the Manasquan Inlet wall in Point Pleasant Beach.

Officials say repairs are far from finished.

Holes in the wall were still visible Thursday, especially on the older steel side that was put in place in to 1990s. Another issue is the more than 200-cubic-yards of sand and fill that were swept into the Inlet and ocean.

The fix is only a temporary patch until the major replacement project by the Department of Environmental Protection gets underway later this year. That project will cost about $600,000 and will completely replace the bulkhead.

Point Pleasant Beach’s mayor hopes the project will be completed by the end of next year.
