SEASIDE HEIGHTS - A Springfield teen jumped from a stuck amusement park ride during Saturday's thunderstorm and video taken as she made the jump is now going viral online.

Melanie Rossamondo, 17, says she was in Seaside Heights celebrating her birthday. As Saturday's thunderstorm moved in, she and a friend were on the Skyride amusement park ride when its power went out. Rossamondo says she decided to jump the 35 feet from the ride because she was afraid she was going to get struck by lightning. Two teens from West Orange were nearby filming the storm hitting the boardwalk and managed to get footage of Rossamondo jumping from the Skyride.

Casino Pier, the company that operates the Skyride, says maintenance crews began to unload passengers from the ride as soon as the power went out.
