GLEN ROCK - A 15-year-old boy is recovering after falling from a zipline over the weekend.

The incident happened Saturday night at the Glen Rock High School Athletic Complex. Police say the Hawthorne boy had sneaked onto the zipline, which is normally used as part of a senior trust project at the school. Except for the wires, all of the other equipment is locked away for the summer.

The teen managed to climb up and tried to use his T-shirt to slide down, according to Chief Frederick Stahman. "He took it upon himself to shimmy up to the tree and unfortunately there was an accident," he says. He fell about 30 feet and broke several bones, including his femur.

The 15-year-old is expected to leave the hospital on Tuesday. Police say he could face trespassing charges.
