JERSEY CITY - Parents of students at a Jersey City elementary school are outraged that a 14-year-old was able to bring a loaded gun to school.

School officials say a 14-year-old boy allegedly showed the .22-caliber weapon to a fellow student in a bathroom at School 38 and may have threatened him. The student who was shown the gun told a teacher, who notified school security.

A school security officer confiscated the weapon and the teen's parents were called. He was taken to the Jersey City Police Juvenile Bureau. Police have not said what charges, if any, he will face.

No injuries were reported and the school was not placed under lockdown.

School officials sent a note home to parents explaining what happened, but some parents say they're upset because they didn't learn about the incident until after school.
