TEANECK - Police are urging residents in Teaneck to take precautions after a rash of car break-ins.

They say 15 cars were burglarized last month alone, which is higher than normal.

In many cases, the passenger window was smashed and the robbers stole cellphones, GPS devices and cash, according to police.

"We always keep our car doors locked," says Stephanie Haimowitz. "We definitely will hide our valuables and hide the wires so it doesn't look like there is anything nice in the car."

Police say most of the burglaries occurred during overnight hours. So far, no arrests have been made.
