Taxes may increase by thousands of dollars in Loch Arbour

LOCH ARBOUR - Taxes may go up by thousands of dollars in Loch Arbour due to a new school funding law that requires school taxes be based on property assessments and not the number of children in school.

Nearby Allenhurst is considering the proposal to merge the shore communities in a last-ditch effort for tax relief.

A merger would mean Loch Arbour students would attend Asbury Park schools, instead of Ocean schools. Allenhurst says it will listen to its residents before its Board of Commissioners takes a vote.
