Switching problems slow NJ Transit trains

SECAUCUS - (AP) - Workers have fixed a switching problemthat slowed NJ Transit trains in and out of New York City's PennStation Friday.

NJ Transit spokeswoman Courtney Carroll says the switch problemsoccurred around 6 a.m. in Kearny. Carroll says trains had tooperate on a single track between Newark and the Portal Bridge. The problem was fixed by 7:20 a.m.

There are residual delays on Northeast Corridor, North JerseyCoast and Midtown Direct service in and out of Manhattan.

An Amtrak spokeswoman says there were no reports of delays withits trains.
