NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP - (07/31/14 – 1:49 p.m.) UPDATE: The 25th Street Beach in Barnegat Light has been closed due to water samples that exceeded quality standards, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. There are currently no other water quality advisories in place.

Several swimming advisories have been issued at the Jersey Shore.

Water samples taken at Shark River Beach and Yacht Club in Neptune Township showed high bacteria levels that could make swimmers sick.

In Long Branch, five beaches, including Joline, Laird, Atlantic, North Bath and South Bath, also have swimming advisories.

Officials say it is a "swim at your own risk" advisory, but the affected beaches will be closed if the second batch of water samples tested show high bacteria levels.

In Ocean County, 25th Street Beach in Barnegat Light, Beachwood Beach, Windward Beach in Brick and Stockton Beach in Long Beach Township also had swimming advisories issued Tuesday afternoon.
