BELMAR - Authorities in Belmar have resumed a search today for a swimmer missing off a Belmar beach.
Belmar police say they received a call last night at around 8 p.m., reporting four swimmers caught in a rip current off the Eighth Avenue beach.
Police and first responders rescued three of the swimmers, but Pardip Singh, 20, of Carteret, was separated from the group and remains missing.
Singh entered the water with several friends after lifeguards went off duty for the night.
Belmar Police Sgt. Harry Harsin says U.S. Coast Guard rescue crews have been using helicopters and patrol boats to search for Singh.
Rescue divers have not been able to enter the waters due to the rough surf caused by Hurricane Earl in the Atlantic.
