ASBURY PARK - A chocolate shop has returned to Asbury Park after a nearly 20-year hiatus.

Criterion Chocolates is returning to the boardwalk after leaving the city 18 years ago. Criterion stuck it out in Asbury Park after the riots in the 70s, but moved to Eatontown in 1994.

The owners say they've seen the city come back, and they look forward now to reconnecting with their past. The owners say they plan on taking one of their original taffy cutters to the new location.

Criterion Chocolates plans to open its Asbury Park store in May. The Eatontown production facility and retail shop will also remain open.
