HARRISON - Police have identified the man suspected of fatally stabbing his parents and toddler niece in their Harrison home yesterday.
The Hudson County prosecutor has charged Carlos P. Campos, 23, of Harrison with three counts of murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. Campos surrendered at a police station a few hours after he allegedly killed them.
Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio says Campos is accused of stabbing his parents, both Brazilian immigrants, and his sister's child, after what may have been an argument with his father.
The victims are identified as 56-year-old Carlos Campos-Trinidad, 58-year-old Ruth Pereira and 3-year-old Gabriella Morales. The child's mother is traveling in Haiti with a mission group.
Campos will make a first court appearance following a mental health evaluation at Jersey City Medical Center.
