NEW BRUNSWICK - The Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's intimate encounter with another man is due in court today.
Dharun Ravi is accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate Tyler Clementi. Police say after Clementi found out the incident had been sent over the Internet, he jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge. The alleged spying happened in Sept. 2010, just days before Clementi's suicide.
Ravi has pleaded not guilty to the 15 criminal counts he faces, including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation. Today's court date is part of pre-trial preparations and it's expected that Ravi will be offered a plea agreement. His lawyers have indicated they do not expect him to accept the deal.
Ravi's trial is set for Feb. 15.
