Survey: Rutgers tops among schools employers favor for hires

EDISON - Rutgers University was among the top 25 schools in a recent survey of places that corporate recruiters favor for hires.

The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick placed 21st on the list released this week by the Wall Street Journal.

The study surveyed 479 of the largest public and private companies, nonprofits and government agencies in the country.

Penn State placed first on the list, followed by Texas A&M and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Companies favor graduates of big state universities over Ivy League and even some elite liberal-arts schools to fill entry-level jobs, the Wall Street Journal study found.
