LONG BRANCH - Surfers say they recovered medical waste in Long Branch. News 12 New Jersey also found the shoreline littered with debris, including plastics and wood.

Several syringes were also found a few days ago in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township. This kind of medical waste washed up regularly on the beaches this summer after heavy rains.

Environmentalists say the sewers in North Jersey and New York overflow and cause the waste to wash up on beaches.
