Supporters try to get governor on side of ice thief

LINCROFT - Supporters of the Brookdale Community College ice thief are trying to get Gov. Chris Christie to act on his behalf. Cedric Calero is facing charges in court and on campus for taking a cup of ice from the cafeteria at Brookdale Community Collge in Lincroft last month without paying for it.

Calero's mother confirms that a family friend has contacted a representative for the governor.

Calero faces a disorderly persons charge in Middletown. A hearing is scheduled at Brookdale tomorrow. News 12 New Jersey reached out to the governor's office for comment, but did not hear back as of this report.

The dean of students at Brookdale says he can't comment specifically, except to say when small incidents turn into large incidents, there's usually more to them.
