Suffolk cops, FBI to pool resources in missing NJ woman case

The FBI will begin to pool resources with Suffolk County police officers after four bodies were found on a Long Island beach during the search

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. - The FBI will begin to pool resources with Suffolk County police officers after four bodies were found on a Long Island beach during the search for a missing Jersey City woman. The bodies were found as investigators searched for Shannon Gilbert, who police say was a prostitute who advertised on Craigslist. Authorities say she was last seen meeting a client on Fire Island May 1. Gilbert's family says Gilbert made a frantic 911 call for help before she disappeared.

Police say preliminary test results show that all of the bodies are of females, but can't say if Gilbert is one of them. They say it may take weeks to identify the remains. Investigators are working on the theory that a serial killer may have targeted prostitutes who advertised on Craigslist.
