JAMESBURG - Breast cancer screening rates in New Jersey are lower than the national average, according to a recent study. Insurance company AmeriHealth New Jersey says many women put off the annual test because of fear of discomfort or a bad result.

The insurance company studied mammography facilities around the state. To ease woman's fears, it compiled a list of the top 15 places based on convenience of scheduling, levels of privacy and accuracy of results.

AmeriHealth says it hopes women will use similar criteria to find a center they feel more comfortable with, and in turn, would be more likely to go to.
