TEANECK - Hundreds of Teaneck students held a rally Wednesday to discuss a senior prank that led to the arrest of 18 percent of the class of 2014.

Organizers wanted to help boost morale for the school and the town after vandalism at Teaneck High School last week that resulted in police taking 63 students into custody and charging them with criminal mischief and burglary.

Students took the podium to address their classmates and shared positive stories about their school.

Several residents and parents have voiced criticism over the police department's response to the incident.

School officials last week disputed the description police gave of the damage at the school.

In a statement, Superintendent Barbara Pinsak said the district does not condone the poor judgment of its students, but says reports of destruction and mayhem were exaggerated and misrepresent the school and community.
