HACKENSACK - Artwork commemorating Women's Equality Day was unveiled in Hackensack Thursday.
A group of 18 students from all grade levels took part in a special exhibit honoring the day in their own special way.
The North Jersey students painted and drew artwork representing the importance of the event.
Women's Equality Day marks the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which gave women the right to vote.
Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan says the day holds special meaning for her. "When my mother was born, women didn't have the right to vote in this country. So we've come a long way in a short amount of time," Donovan says. ‘But there's still so much more to be done."
The exhibit is now on display at the Bergen County Administration Building.
The nation will commemorate Women's Equality Day on Aug 26.
