BRADLEY BEACH - A string of car burglaries in Bradley Beach has police on high alert.

News 12 New Jersey found out that some of the crimes may have been preventable. Bradley Beach Police Chief Len Guida says that all but three of the vehicles were unlocked and he thinks that the same thieves are responsible.

Some residents say they don't understand why people would leave their doors unlocked, while others say that perhaps the doors were left unlocked because they think it is safe in the quiet offseason.

Police alerted residents of the break-ins through automated calls earlier this week.
