ATLANTIC CITY - The National Weather Service says the snowstorm that battered New Jersey has led to coastal flooding with some areas of major flooding possible.

State police reported Route 30 in Atlantic City was closed due to tidal flooding, as is the George Redding Bridge between Cape May and Middle Township.

Police in North Wildwood posted a photo on Twitter of heavy flooding near Delaware and 26th avenues.

Emergency officials in Cape May County say flooding had first responders busy, but that the waters were receding as the tide went out.

The American Red Cross opened several shelters in the southern half of the state to help flood victims.

The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
