JERSEY CITY - Steven Fulop has won the Jersey City mayoral election.

Fulop's campaign has declared victory over incumbent Jerramiah Healy.

Residents in Jersey City went to the polls Tuesday to elect a mayor and nine city council members.

Mayor Jerramiah Healy was seeking a third full term against City Councilman Steven Fulop and two other challengers: Jerry Walker and Abdul Malik.

Mayor-elect Fulop has been on the city council since 2006. The 36-year-old former Marine is a Goldman Sachs employee.

Healy has been mayor since 2004 and the 62-year-old is a longtime Hudson County political and legal figure.
